Andre Ellington will give it a go vs. the Chargers. We break down the fantasy implications.
Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington is active against the San Diego Chargers for Week 1. He was limited in practice after aggravating a foot injury on Wednesday and was a game-time decision for the home opener.
He's dealt with multiple foot injuries leading up to this game and the Cardinals aren't likely to give him a featured workload. Coach Bruce Arians is hopeful his undersized back will be healthy enough to be a featured back, but obviously his limitations leading up to tonight's game won't make that an option right away.
Jonathan Dwyer is expected to get plenty of reps with the first unit. He's familiar with Arians' system from their Pittsburgh days together and he's not horrible as a pass protector. Plus, Carson Palmer may throw it around a little more to Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and rookie John Brown.
Fantasy impact: While Ellington owners have to be pleased to hear he's going to play, he's still far too risky to use -- hopefully they benched him considering the Monday Night Football factor. He's only 5'9" and has been hurt frequently since his Clemson days, so there is considerable risk despite his tremendous upside.
