The undrafted rookie made his name known in Week 1 by hauling in two touchdowns in a near-upset of the Eagles. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns was almost a complete unknown during training camp. Even after a hot preseason, the undrafted rookie was still an obscure name in most fantasy circles. Things are changing after Week 1, when Hurns made a blazing start to his NFL career.
Starting in place of Cecil Shorts, Hurns recorded four catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles, burning Cary Williams on both scores. Hurns quieted down in the second half when the Jaguars' offense stalled and Philadelphia earned a comeback win, but the damage had been done.
Fantasy impact: As of Monday afternoon, Hurns was owned in just 12 percent of Yahoo! leagues. Don't expect Hurns to put up those numbers every week, especially when Shorts comes back healthy. Still, he at least proved that his strong preseason wasn't a fluke and is worth picking up in leagues with 14 or more teams. Hurns could end up being a real asset down the road when Blake Bortles eventually takes over the starting quarterback job.
