The Cardinals have a potential quarterback crisis on their hands this week. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Arizona Cardinals have a big problem at the quarterback position this week. Drew Stanton was absent from Thursday's practice after being limited on Wednesday. He suffered a concussion in Week 5. Due to the midweek downgrade, Stanton is now unlikely to be cleared for Sunday's game against Washington.
Carson Palmer hasn't played since the season opener due to nerve damage in his throwing shoulder. He's back to throwing and got a limited practice on Thursday, but head coach Bruce Arians wants him to get a full practice before letting him suit up again.
Fantasy impact: Friday's practice session is going to be critical for the Cardinals. If neither quarterback is able to play, they will have to turn to fourth-round rookie Logan Thomas. Thomas, an extremely raw prospect, was pressed into action against the Denver Broncos and it showed . He completed just 1 of 8 passes, his only completion going to Andre Ellington who took it 81 yards to the house.
All of this makes for an unappealing fantasy situation for Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald. Ellington is locked in as an RB2, especially if Thomas has to start, but the passing game gets a downgrade across the board. Check back on both Friday and Sunday morning before finalizing your lineups. Floyd and Fitzgerald are risky bets even against Washington's shaky defense.
