Toby Gerhart is hurt and could miss Week 6. We break down the fantasy implications.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart did not practice on Thursday due to a foot injury. His status is unclear for Sunday in a divisional matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
Gerhart has been invisible so far this season. Although, opposing defenses haven't had any trouble spotting him. He has just a 2.6 yards-per-carry average and has just 123 rushing yards on the season. Even before his injury, he's being phased out of the offense with his snaps going down.
It would appear that Storm Johnson is the new top back for the Jags. Coach Gus Bradley indicated Johnson could get his chance this week and it would come in a nice matchup against the Titans. They rank 30th in rushing yards allowed and 27th in points per game allowed.
Fantasy impact: Gerhart isn't a must-own player these days while Johnson is probably worth a pickup. Johnson is a risky flex this week, so he probably just belongs on your bench until his role is solidified.
