Chelsea tried a "defense optional" approach. It didn't work.

Wanna mark him? Nah.

Chelsea got a great goal to go ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in France. All they had to do was defend and they were going home with a one-goal advantage.

And then ...

All they had to do was defend! That's five defenders and one attacker. And no defenders within five yards of the one attacker.

Apparently defending was optional. And they all chose the "no" option.

How does this happen? Let's take a look at it one more time.
