Washington's tight end Jordan Reed is listed as questionable but is fully expected to suit up. We break down the fantasy implications.

Washington tight end Jordan Reed (thumb) is listed as questionable but is expected to play in the team's Week 1 game against the Houston Texans. Reed is dealing with a minor sprain in his thumb, but the injury didn't prevent him from practicing fully Wednesday through Friday.

Fantasy Impact: The former third-round pick is entering his second season with Washington and offers some real upside based on his athletic ability. However, there are a couple factors that owners need to consider. The biggest is his injury history. Reed dealt with a concussion last year and missed significant time. While his thumb injury isn't serious, it serves as a reminder that he remains injury-prone.

Washington made a big splash in free agency by signing former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. Jackson will be paired with Pierre Garcon, who led the league in receptions last year with 113. While the team is adjusting to new head coach Jay Gruden's offense, there is a very real chance that Reed could be third on the target totem pole. That position could hurt his production even more if quarterback Robert Griffin III can't stay healthy.

Washington will take on a Houston defense that has some big names but struggled last year. Reed should be viewed as a low-end TE1 with solid upside. Owners need to closely monitor where he ends up in the distribution of targets among the receivers.
