Buffalo Bills receiver Sammy Watkins doesn't believe his rib injury will keep him out of Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears.
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Sammy Watkins expects to suit up for his team's Week 1 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
The No. 4 overall pick in this year's draft, Watkins has endured multiple rib injures during the preseason that have brought his regular season opener availability into question. For what it's worth, the receiver doesn't seem too worried.
"Of course," Watkins said when asked whether he expects to play against Chicago. "I'm hoping I'll be out there playing."
"It's the same injury, just a little deeper than what it was," Watkins added.
Watkins first hurt his ribs during the Bills preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The injury forced Watkins to miss Buffalo's preseason game the following week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being cleared to practice in preparation for his team's preseason finale this past Thursday. Unfortunately, Watkins reaggrivated the injury when he absorbed a hit on this first target of the game.
Watkins reports that he's felt "just about normal" during Monday's practice and feels confident that he'll be able to go this Sunday.
