The rookie wide receiver put together a nice game last week. Can he keep it up in Week 8?
The light looks like it's starting to flicker on for Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins. There is always considerable pressure on any first-round pick, especially one that the team traded up five spots in the first round to acquire (as was the case with Watkins). The pressure has been a non-factor so far for the former Clemson Tiger. He put his best game together last week, catching nine balls for 122 yards and two touchdowns, his second 100-yard game of his rookie campaign.
Fantasy Impact: While Watkins is still likely to struggle with consistency, owners got a nice preview of what he's capable of last week. He also has much better chemistry with quarterback Kyle Orton than he did with the recently benched E.J. Manuel, which helps to improve his stock. The Bills take on the New York Jets and their mediocre secondary, who have surrendered the 13th-most points to opposing wide receivers. Coming off of a boom game against a middle-of–the-pack opponent, Watkins is a must-start WR2 in all formats.
