Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has left Monday's game against the Washington football team with an apparent back injury. Romo went down hard after being sacked for the fourth time, and he stayed down for some time. He eventually got up and left the field accompanied by the training staff.
Brandon Weeden is in as the backup as Washington leads 10-7 in the third quarter. Romo had completed 13 of 21 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown before going down with the injury. Dallas lost a total of 47 yards on the four sacks allowed. Coming into the game, the Cowboys had been doing relatively fine against the pass rush, as Romo had been sacked just 12 times.
Romo has a history of back injuries, and he's often listed on the injury report with a back injury thanks to the fact that Dallas manages his practice team and typically has him inactive for Wednesday sessions. Romo sustained a back injury in 2013 and missed the final regular season game after undergoing surgery just two days before that game.
