The veteran Jets quarterback keeps getting his foot stepped on. We break down the fantasy implications.
New York Jets quarterback Michael Vick has been hobbled by injury because his foot keeps getting stepped on. Coach Rex Ryan clarified Wednesday morning that he is indeed okay and will be good to go against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10, according to Darryl Slater of the Newark Star-Ledger.
Fantasy Impact: The report goes on to say that Geno Smith (shoulder) was inactive last week and another week of rest should get him back to full strength. All of that means that third-stringer Michael Simms may act as Vick's backup on Sunday.
Vick is a high risk, high reward play against the Steelers this week. Of course there will be fantasy owners out there who still believe he still has that magic running ability in his legs, but he is rather turnover prone now that he's in the latter stages of his career.
Owners can go ahead and start him in deeper leagues but be aware of the inherent gamble involved in using him going forward.
