The German's goal and assist were enough for his side to hold off an Augsburg resurgence.

Whatever was off about Borussia Dortmund last week Marco Reus turned back on. The Germany international led the Dortmund swarm as they win by the skin of their teeth, 3-2 against Augsburg.

Reus collected a goal and an assist within two minutes of each other in the first half, his first tallies this season. His contributions proved to be enough to hold off a jolting late-game effort from Augsburg, giving his Schwarzgelben their first three points of the Bundesliga season.

Reus need just 12 minutes to get his first goal of the season, connecting with Kevin Großkreutz on a give and go to waltz through the Augsburg defense. He found the head of Papastatopoulos just 2 minutes later on a corner kick, the Greek defender overpowering Ragnar Klavan four the fourth goal of his career.

Dortmund forced the ball into the Augsburg half of the field the entire match, Reus partnering with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in a relentless high pressure. Augsburg remained very rigid throughout the match, leaving space in dangerous areas to connect with one another.

The match slowed to a pedestrian pace before a rapid conclusion. Adrian Ramos scored his first Bundesliga goal in a Dortmund uniform off of a ricocheted Henrikh Mkhitaryan shot. Augsburg got a consolation goal shortly thereafter, Raul Bobadilla splitting Papastathopoulos and Neven Subotic before finding the back of the net. Tim Matavz headed in another off of an Abdul Rahman Baba cross in the 90th minute, but Augsburg could not force the draw at home.

Dortmund have now allowed four goals in two games after averaging just over a goal conceded a game last season. Augsburg meanwhile lose their second game in a row due to two first half goals in quick succession, and will have to go to Eintracht Frankfurt in search of their first points in the Bundesliga.
