Michelle Wie plays her way into contention for the $1 million CME Globe jackpot at the LPGA’s season finale, some time after which she will shoot scenes for an episode of ‘Hawaii Five-0.’
Michelle Wie, playing her way on Friday into the running for the $1 million Race to the CME Globe bonus with a 5-under 67, will trade her golf spikes for a TV script when she guest stars on an upcoming episode of "Hawaii Five-0."
The popular native of the Aloha State, who will reportedly make a cameo appearance on the CBS program, rebounded from an opening-hole bogey with four birdies and an eagle in the CME Group Tour Championship to get into contention for the top prize in the LPGA’s season-long points contest.
Wie, who has a huge fan in "Hawaii Five-0" co-star Daniel Dae Kim, will shoot her part sometime during the tour’s two-month offseason that starts after this week's year-ending event for a show that will air sometime next year, Golf Channel’s Tom Abbott told viewers during Friday’s broadcast.
It’s unclear if Kim, who tweeted about watching Wie win the U.S. Women’s Open in June, played a role in getting the four-time tour winner to visit the set.

Wie briefly on Friday was slotted to finish first in the running for the CME jackpot but closed out her second round projected to finish second to Stacy Lewis.
"All you can do is try and play good golf," Wie, who holed out for an eagle on the par-4 seventh, told Golf Channel about how she approached competing for such a huge purse. "I just want to give myself a good opportunity and I gave myself that today."
