This is an absolutely heartbreaking way to lose.


We've never quite seen anything like this: a Kansas middle school hoops team lost a game because the ball became stuck on top of the rim as the clock expired (h/t: Sporting News)



At any point in the game, that's a jump ball -- you can see the ref signalling for one -- but since it happened as the clock expired, the game was over.


This gave Riley County a 26-25 win over Rock Creek. At least if you miss, you miss. But when the ball gets stuck there, you just have to wonder what could have been. You've got to feel bad for the kids:



Minnesota did win a game a few weeks back because they earned an extra shot clock by getting the ball wedged in the win, but that wasn't quite as dramatic as this.
