The Shreveport prospect likes the Sooners, but is going to take his time before committing.
Rodarius Williams has good size for a cornerback, standing 6'0 and weighing in at 170 pounds. He's a three-star recruit according to 247 Sports and Rivals, and holds offers from a number of big schools including Oklahoma, Baylor, Nebraska, and more. SB Nation Recruiting's Wescott Eberts caught up with Williams at the Nike Opening Regional in Dallas, and got an update on where the Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy star is in the recruiting process.
The Opening
Williams didn't have any competition at wide receiver singled out at Dallas. "Pretty much just get out here and compete against whoever I line up against. I don’t have a man I’m targeting, just get out here and compete."
Sooners as favorites
Williams spoke glowingly about Oklahoma when asked who he was currently favoring. "They talked to me, made me feel more welcome than the rest of the schools that have offered me." He had a chance to take a visit to Norman, and sounded like he enjoyed the experience. "I like it. The coaches, the players that are already there, they told me some great things about OU."
The Sooners aren't alone in competing for Williams' commitment, though, as several other offers stand out to him.
"Utah. They talked to me second behind Oklahoma. Mississippi State was the first school to offer me."
Visits and timeline
Williams will be visiting Baylor during their Friday Night Lights event, and said he's high on their facilities and coaching staff. He said he'd also like to take a visit to Mississippi State, and is expecting to get offers from LSU and Alabama at some point soon.
As for a timeframe, it sounds like Williams is content to take his time. "I'm not really in a hurry. I don’t really have a timetable, just whenever I feel right and comfortable, I’ll commit."
