The Red Devils have come from out of nowhere to capture the striker.
Radamel Falcao looks set to sign with Manchester United. Multiple reports have confirmed that the Red Devils have agreed to a loan deal with Monaco that will see the Colombian striker join United on goal for the season. The move will be made official once personal terms are agreed to and Falcao passes his medical.
That Manchester United have captured Falcao is shocking considering where the talk around his destination was just an hour before the Red Devils nabbed him. Every rumor had Manchester City and Arsenal in a race to sign the striker, then in a matter of minutes the discussion changed to Manchester United signing him.
Exactly how much United will pay Monaco to take Falcao on loan is unclear. The reports have ranged from as low as £9 million to as much as £25 million.
Manchester United's swoop is a little perplexing considering they already have Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney. They hardly need a striker of Falcao's quality, but they want to stock up on as many top players as possible and Falcao is clearly a top player.
Exactly how Louis van Gaal plans to sort out his strikers and address weaknesses in central midfield and central defense remains unclear, but he certainly has plenty of options to go with up front. Manchester United continue to spend an incredible amount of cash this summer and continue to shock people, with Falcao being far and away the biggest shock so far.
