The Colts will be without their starting tight end in Week 17. We break down the fantasy implications.
Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen has been ruled out for the Week 17 matchup with the Tennessee Titans.
Allen has been battling a knee injury throughout the second half of the season, and with the Colts having little to play for in Week 17, Colts brass found it best to give their starting tight end a week off to recover in preparation for the playoffs.
Fantasy Spin: The tight end position has once again been a fantasy wasteland for owners across the board, and Allen had been a reliable option compared to the rest of the field. Though he was highly touchdown dependent, that upside alone made him a viable start in most weeks. He will be on the TE1 radar in drafts next season after amassing eight touchdowns and 395 yards in 13 games.
As for Week 17, expect a heavy snap count for Coby Fleener, who immediately becomes a TE1 option in both daily and season-long fantasy formats versus a porous Titans' defense.
