Nate Burleson might have something left to contribute this season, but his spot on the roster isn't guaranteed. We break down the fantasy implications.
Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine isn't certain that veteran wide receiver Nate Burleson will make the roster this season. Pettine said that it hurt Burleson's chances "not being out there," referring to a strained hamstring that has forced him out of practice and caused him to miss the team's last preseason game, as reported by the Akron Beacon Journal.
Burleson joined the team this offseason but has yet to make an impact due to injuries. He missed significant time with the Detroit Lions last season as well. That came after he was off to the best start to a season of his career, leading many to believe he still has plenty left to contribute to the Browns. That may be so, but he'll have to earn a spot on the roster first.
Fantasy Impact: Fortunately, with all that's going on with Josh Gordon, Burleson is pretty valuable for the Browns. The team also recently released Anthony Armstrong, which would seem to indicate Burleson's spot is safe. We can't outright recommend him as a must-start in fantasy football or anything, but he could definitely put in some good work after he proves he's got a spot on the roster and in the lineup.
