Yankees record 9 consecutive hits against David Price

David Price was one hit away from the record books as the Yankees tallied nine straight off of him.

When the Tigers traded for David Price at the trade deadline, they knew they were acquiring an arm capable of setting records. The one Price approached on Wednesday night was not what they had in mind though, as Price allowed nine consecutive hits to the Yankees, before finishing the inning with two sac flies and a ground out. The record for consecutive hits allowed of the same pitcher in one inning is jointly held by Heinie Meine (lol) and Bill Reidy dating back to 1930 and 1901 respectively. Price didn't make it out of the second inning, allowing eight earned runs on 12 total hits, with all eight runs coming in the second inning.

David Price hadn't allowed 9 hits in any of his last 14 starts - and then allowed 9 hits in a row? How'd that happen?

Miley can't figure out Van Slyke

Speaking of baseball being weird, Scott Van Slyke can do no wrong against Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley. He smacked MLB's first home run of the season off Miley, and has continued the onslaught ever since, homering again on Wednesday.
