The Tottehnham Hotspur striker just had Fiorentina's goalkeeper at his mercy and made a mind-numbingly bad decision.
Generally speaking, if a striker is one-on-one with the goalkeeper and doesn't have a defender in sight, that results in a goal for that striker. Especially if he has time and space to wait for the goalkeeper to commit to a particular variety of save, he can pick his spot or even round the keeper to tap in to an open net.
Unless you're Roberto Soldado.
For some inexplicable reason, Soldado elected to lay it off for Nacer Chadli, who clearly wasn't expecting the ball and couldn't run on to it before Neto smothered the ball. The goal would have given Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 aggregate lead over Fiorentina in the tie and evened out the all-important away goals tiebreaker, but now Spurs will have to find another way to get a goal.
