Big Show has won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal, finally winning one of these things that he's picked to win every year. Damien Mizdow turned on The Miz and got to the final two, but couldn't eliminate the 400 pounder.
This match was invented as a means to get everyone on the roster a WrestleMania check, which was a very nice thing for WWE to do for their performers. It's also a great idea because 30 guys in the ring punching the crap out of each other is always really, really awesome.
Miz and Damien Mizdow have been teasing a breakup heading into this match, while Ryback and Big Show are billed as favorites as usual. Sheamus was not announced as a participant, but vignettes have been airing for his return for over a month, and he was the betting favorite to win the match despite not being confirmed as a participant.
Curtis Axel has been doing the best work of his career in the run-up as well, screaming AXELMANIA IS RUNNING WILD on the reg while reminding everyone that he was never eliminated from the Royal Rumble. He did his ripping the shirt gag to start the match, then everyone ganged up on him to throw him out first.
Ryback and Big Show were positioned as the big favorites early, getting in a handful of eliminations each. They were two of the final five, alongside last year's winner Cesaro, Miz and Mizdow.
Cesaro went for a repeat of last year's ending, trying to throw Show over the ropes, but Big Show countered and threw Cesaro out of the ring. Show then went on to eliminate Ryback, leaving three participants.
Miz asked Mizdow to go attack Big Show as he hung back, but Mizdow refused for the first time since joining up with Miz, presumably turning back into Damien Sandow. He tossed his boss, but then was left with a seemingly impossible task -- tossing the Big Show by himself.
Once again Damien Sandow, with the crowd behind him, Miz's former assistant got close to eliminating the world's largest athlete on a couple of occasions. But he couldn't do it, and eventually got tossed as expected, letting a chorus of boos rain down on him.
