The No. 1 way to increase your personal brand is to be a jerk to athletes and hope their insults towards you are vicious enough to go viral.
1. Colin Kaepernick keeps his fans updated about his workout:
1000 abs.... arm workout..... 10 min straight on the jump rope.... 2 hour study session in February..... that's what we call a recovery day!
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) February 18, 2015
2. A 49ers fan is disappointed in Kaepernick's workout:
@Kaepernick7 @49ers ab workout won't help find open receiver #study
— stephen batten (@battman_returns) February 18, 2015
Perhaps this fan didn't notice that Kaepernick said he studied for two hours, perhaps he did, but thinks any amount of ab workout is unnecessary to play football and wishes he'd spent more time studying. Either way, he doesn't believe that Kaepernick is doing enough offseason work to get better.
3. Colin Kaepernick zings the living hell out of him:
@battman_returns you got 8 followers bruh your own family don't even want to know what you doin! Get better at life!
— Colin Kaepernick (@Kaepernick7) February 18, 2015
DAAAAAAAAAAMN
4. Now the guy who got zinged is famous!
The first time we looked, Mr. Battman_Returns had already seen his follower count nearly double from the eight followers Kaepernick alleged he had to 15. As of now, it's at over 300. That's a 3,900 percent increase! This is the biggest day for Battman_Return's brand ever!
Lesson: All you have to do to become internet famous is be unnecessarily critical of athletes, hoping you irk one whose wit is sharp enough that it goes viral. If that happens, a lot of people will see you being made a fool of and some of those people will choose to follow you. Congrats!
