LSU lands another top defensive back from Florida.

Patrick Peterson. Rashard Robinson. Kevin Toliver. LSU continued its tradition of landing top defensive backs from Florida Tuesday with the commitment of cornerback Saivion Smith. Smith chose the Tigers over Florida State, Florida, Clemson, Virginia Tech and others. Smith was slated to announce a top five, which he did, naming the five schools above, but then had a surprise as he pulled out an LSU hat and committed to the Tigers.

"I am 100 percent committed to LSU," Smith said on the ESPN broadcast.

Out of the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Smith is widely considered one of the best cornerbacks in the country. A five-star recruit, he is the No. 1 player in the state of Florida according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Smith is 6'1 and 175 pounds, which is considered excellent size for the position. Smith's commitment comes after a visit to LSU over the weekend. Smith said that he and his father have a great relationship with LSU assistant coach Corey Raymond.

Smith said that he still plans to take all five official visits and that there is still a lot of time left in the recruiting process and that things can change. So stay tuned.
