Even though he plays right back, Fabian Johnson has been the United States' most consistent attacking threat throughout the World Cup. But just before the half-hour mark of their Round of 16 match against Belgium, he pulled up with what appeared to be a hamstring injury, and was replaced in the 32nd minute.

Most probably expected Timothy Chandler to come on. Instead, Johnson's replacement was DeAndre Yedlin, a 20-year-old who plays his club soccer for the Seattle Sounders of MLS.

Yedlin, who can play on the right wing or at right back, has been an extremely effective energy sub for Klinsmann over the last two games in the former role. Right back is his normal position for Seattle, but he's not quite as sound defensively as Johnson. He's definitely the most attack-minded option that Klinsmann could have picked to replace Johnson, and putting him up against Eden Hazard is a big risk.

The good news is that the U.S. won't have to change their style of play. Yedlin's just as dangerous going forward as Johnson and probably a better crosser with his right foot.
