San Francisco's D-line depth will be tested without the veteran out of LSU who started 13 regular season games for them in their run to the NFC Championship.

San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey will miss the upcoming NFL season with a bicep injury.

Dorsey had been listed as the starter at nose tackle on the unofficial depth chart for San Francisco. Quinton Dial was listed first behind him, and may be the first option for the 49ers in Dorsey's absence.

Dorsey signed with the 49ers in 2013 after a disappointing five-year stint with the Kansas City Chiefs to begin his career. After the Chiefs tabbed him with the fifth overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, he recorded only four sacks in the ensuing five seasons despite starting 65 games.

The DT wasn't expected to be much more than a backup with San Francisco, but Dorsey was pressed into a starting role when nose tackle Ian Williams broke his left ankle in Week 2 and missed the rest of the season. Dorsey acquitted himself well for the 49ers, recording 30 tackles and two sacks in 16 games (13 starts). He also played in all three of San Francisco's playoff games, but didn't record any tackles.
