The Patriots' No. 2 tight end played a significant number of snaps in the team's last preseason game. We break down the fantasy implications.
New England Patriots tight end Tim Wright caught four passes for 43 yards on six targets in the team's preseason finale against the New York Giants on Thursday. Wright ran a passing route on 34 of the 43 snaps he appeared in during the contest.
Fantasy Impact: Tim Wright just joined the Pats via trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's a talented pass catcher and should be able to contribute on occasion offensively. He'll be filling in the space that once belonged to Aaron Hernandez.
One thing to note here is that the Patriots have changed up their offensive game plan since Hernandez's departure from the team and use a lot more three-wide receiver sets. That means anyone looking for Wright to explode into fantasy stardom because Tom Brady is under center will probably be disappointed with his production this season.
Wright is a talented young player, but for now fantasy owners would be best served to use him mostly as a potential week-to-week waiver wire pickup and nothing more.
