Two-foot putts are usually gimmes. Pros still have to putt them, but the conversion rate is so high they are essentially gimmes, except when they are not. Sometimes when it rains, it pours. That was the case for Ernie Els who not only missed a two-foot putt, but got lackadaisical with the comebacker and missed that too.



Although it's not necessarily a death blow to his chances, three-putting from two-feet on the opening hole is a brutal way to begin a major championship. When you play hockey with a putter, your putts get set to yakety sax:
