After an excellent career and a pair of Super Bowl rings, Snee has decided to call it a career.
New York Giants right guard Chris Snee announced his retirement from the NFL on Monday.
With training camp approaching, the 32-year-old felt he could no longer continue to play given the various injuries that still giving him trouble, including hip and elbow ailments.
"To me, he was the best guard in all of football," Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said. "No doubt. No matter who you put him against, all of the great defensive tackles in the game, the 350 (pound) guys, the 340 guys, he blocked them. When he first came here, he was so, so committed and so driven to excel at the professional level as he had excelled at the collegiate level (at Boston College)."
For the duration of his career, Snee played under Coughlin. Coughlin is also the father-in-law of Snee, who married Kate Coughlin during his playing days.
Snee enjoyed a decorated career, all with the Giants. The four-time Pro Bowler was drafted in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of Boston College and played for two Super Bowl champions in 2007 and 2011. He started a total of 141 regular season games and another 11 playoff games in his 10-year career. He also was a first team All-Pro in 2008.

Snee is the last remaining player from an offensive line that included David Diehl, Rich Seubert, Shaun O'Hara and Kareem McKenzie, and was probably the best Giants' offensive line of the modern era.
Brandon Mosley and John Jerry will likely battle it out for playing time as replacements to Snee, with newly acquired Geoff Schwartz starting at the left guard spot.
