MLS will face Bayern Munich on Aug. 6 at Portland's Providence Park.
Major League Soccer unveiled the full 23-man All-Star roster on Saturday and there was one name that was a glaring omission: Dom Dwyer. The Sporting Kansas City forward is currently second in the league with 14 goals, just two fewer than Bradley Wright-Phillips, who was named to the roster that will face Bayern Munich on Aug. 6 at Portland's Providence Park.
The MLS Fan XI had been named earlier in the week with 12 names added on Saturday by MLS All-Star coach Caleb Porter. Among the players Porter picked were his own midfielders Diego Valeri and Will Johnson. Porter will also pick the starting lineup.
The Seattle Sounders will have a team-high five players on the roster, with defender Chad Marshall and midfielder Osvaldo Alonso joining the team as coach selections. Clint Dempsey, Obafemi Martins and DeAndre Yedlin had already been named by the fans. Sporting KC and the LA Galaxy each had three players selected.
If you're looking for a player who may have taken Dwyer's spot, that's probably Landon Donovan, who was selected by the fans. Donovan has just three goals and four assists in 14 appearances this season. Jermain Defoe (11 goals), Thierry Henry (four goals, 10 assists), Robbie Keane (nine goals, six assists), Erick Torres (13 goals) and Wright-Phillips (16 goals) were the other forwards.
Per the MLS Collective Bargaining Agreement, at least nine more players will be named to the All-Star team for the purposes of bonuses, but won't appear on the game-day roster.
