Every college football conference has a preseason media event. But why go to any of them besides the Pac-12's? Don't you know you can pull up a palm tree and enjoy some football soul-searching on a glistening movie studio in Southern California, yo?

Hello.

Welcome to Los Angeles.

There is no complimentary sunscreen at SEC Media Days. You do not need any sunscreen of any cost, since you can make it through the entire, four-day event without seeing any sunlight that is not cast through the Riverchase Galleria food court's glass ceiling or the lobby, which is darkened with the shadows of Alabama fans at all hours (as far as I can gather). A high enough level of Gulf Coast state humidity also forms a protective sheath on human skin, I've found.

SEC Media Days smells like a carpeted room in a mall, so long as Bret Bielema has not fired up a grill nearby. Just close your eyes and imagine the smell of the room you are in right now, and you are probably there.

And even if you're not in L.A., everything is gorgeous and super cas':

This man is not a wandering bystander -- he's the Pac-12's head of officiating here to discuss important business on camera:

Each team has albino versions of its helmet sitting in a row, which immediately led some fans to freak out about uniform changes. The Pac-12 not only refused to harsh its own vibes over this confusion, it chose to further lighten spirits via jokes:

Head coaches will play tailgate games with you:

And while nothing really makes all that much sense ...

... and beat writers are saying beat writery things ...

Rich Rodriguez is opening Mike Leach's stage, so everything's still cool.

Cool out and listen.

Follow our team on the scene, which includes Steven Godfrey and Avinash Kunnath, for more, and catch Pacific Takes' coverage here.
