Patterson is now a hero in Austin.
This is the time of year when coaches get to take jabs at coaches in other conferences over nonsense. In part one of today's nonsense — there will certainly be more — we have TCU's Gary Patterson taking on Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin.
Apparently Patterson hasn't taken too kindly to the fact that Sumlin has received so much praise since arriving at A&M, and he decided to prop up one of his in-state rivals to bring down another.
Gary Patterson on UT: "The hardest part about Austin is they fired a guy at 8-4, and down the road they give a raise at 8-4 (Kevin Sumlin)."

That tweet got 262 retweets, because Texas fans were so excited at the chance to show they have higher expectations than the team they totally aren't threatened by. Maybe this will make Patterson some fans in Austin. He might need them after finishing four wins behind both the Longhorns and the Aggies in 2013.
