Jim Corsi would not be proud.

The Buffalo Sabres were shutout 4-0 by the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday and that's not the bad news.

What made the shutout loss tougher to swallow was the fact the Sabres only had 10 shots on goal in the game and gave Jonathan Bernier the easiest shutout of his career. The 10-shot output set an ignominious franchise record for the Sabres.

When you take a look at the total shots attempted, the story gets even uglier.

The Maple Leafs attempted 73 shots, 19 of which were blocked by Buffalo. Tyler Bozak and Phil Kessel each had a goal and an assist and James van Riemsdyk and Jake Gardiner had a goal each as well. Michal Neuvirth did well to withstand the relentless Leafs attack and made 33 saves.

The Sabres, meanwhile, attempted 36 shots and had 16 of those blocked by the Leafs. They had as many shots miss the net as they did hit Bernier. In case you're wondering, Torrey Mitchell led the Sabres with two shots on goal.

The Sabres are now 2-8-0 on the season and they've been shut out in four of their eight losses. As a team, they've scored 10 goals in 10 games.

The quotes after the game helped put a bow on things:
