Winter, at least according to the calendar, hasn't started yet but much of the country has already felt what the weather will likely have to offer and for areas like Buffalo, NY, that means snow. We have certainly seen games played in those conditions and from a viewership perspective, one of the things that makes those games watchable is the bright colors of boots, balls, and kits standing out against the snow.
While leagues around the world will still use high-visibility balls in match play this winter, Nike's athletes will be plying their trade in pairs of boots that are simply white.
"While white is sometimes thought of as the simplest of colors, we see it as the powerful result of overlapping primary colors. It's a bit analogous to how a player's training, creativity and touch overlap to create powerful moments on the pitch that look deceptively simple."
That is what Max Blau, VP Nike Football Footwear, said about the main color in what Nike are calling the "Shine Through" collection. The pack was inspired by the "energy, atmosphere, and visuals that accompany New Year's Eve celebrations in Brasil," where white is the predominant color worn by those ringing in the new year and is paired with bright accent colors. Nike's boots mimic that with vibrant outsoles and bright swooshes. The colors that make up Nike's famous logo are said to mimic the fireworks in the night sky as the clock strikes midnight.
Nike's players have already received their Shine Through collection boots and you can expect to see them in action soon.
