The top two teams in the National League East standings meet when the Atlanta Braves visit the New York Mets on Wednesday.
The New York Mets are one of the hottest teams in baseball with an 9-0 record over their last nine games. The Mets will try to extend their lead in the NL East in the second game of their three-game series with the Atlanta Braves this Wednesday night at Citi Field.
New York is a -150 home favorite on Wednesday, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com over Atlanta at +130. Eric Stults will take the mound for Atlanta on Wednesday while Dillon Gee is set to start for the Mets.
The Mets don't have much star power in their lineup, but that hasn't stopped them from jumping out to an 11-3 start to the season through their first 14 games. Led by 41-year-old Bartolo Colon and a pair of excellent 26-year-olds in Jacob deGrom and Matt Harvey, the Mets have one of the best team ERAs in all of baseball so far, at 3.00.
New York enters Wednesday night's game with a perfect 8-0 record at home in 2015.
The Braves stormed out of the gate this season to a 5-0 record, sweeping the Miami Marlins in three games and then handing the Mets two of their three losses. However, over the last eight games Atlanta has come back down to earth a bit with a 3-5 record.
Going off as the betting underdog on the baseball betting lines in 10 of their first 13 games, the Braves have been a solid moneymaker so far at 8-5 over that stretch. The Braves are likely to be the underdog in the final game of this series against New York as well.
The OVER is 9-2-1 in New York's last 12 games and 8-2 in Atlanta's last 10 games. Wednesday's total for the Mets vs. Braves betting matchup is set at just 7.5 runs at the sportsbooks.
These two teams have been evenly-matched of late, with a 15-15 record against one another over the last 30 games between the two division rivals. The series will close out on Thursday when Bartolo Colon squares off against Julio Teheran.
