There was no suspense in Game 2.
The Tampa Bay Lightning played well enough to win in Game 1 of their playoff series against the Detroit Red Wings, but came away with a 1-0 deficit after losing 3-2 to Detroit. The Lightning made sure to come away with a victory in Game 2, blitzing the Red Wings on the way to a 5-1 victory to even the series 1-1.
Detroit goaltender Petr Mrazek had a rough go of it. Tyler Johnson put the Lighting up 1-0 with a power play goal in the first period. Things only got worse for Mrazek from there. Tampa Bay blew the game wide open with three second-period goals, including the second of the game from Johnson. Johnson's second goal put Tampa Bay up 4-0 and sent Mrazek to the bench. Valtteri Filppula put the finishing touches on the blowout with a goal late in the third period to make it 5-1.
On the other side, Ben Bishop had a much better night. He stopped 23 of 24 shot attempts. It was a solid bounce back effort for Bishop after he struggled some in Game 1 and let in three goals on just 14 shots.
Despite the blowout loss, the Red Wings still have an advantage as the series shifts back to Detroit for Game 3. Getting Mrazek sorted out will be a key. The 23-year-old was tremendous in Game 1 before struggling mightily in Game 2.
