Jurgen Klinsmann has revealed the USMNT team that will face Mexico in a Wednesday friendly.
Even though it's not a FIFA break, the United States and Mexico have managed to fit in a midweek friendly to get a look at each other and evaluate players one last time before the serious summer schedule. Jurgen Klinsmann and Miguel Herrera will see the match as one last chance to experiment before setting their teams for the Gold Cup.
Because it's not during a full break, the squads have very domestic looks to them. Mexico have called in no European-based players and the U.S. have only called up one, DeAndre Yedlin. That's a bit strange because Yedlin made his Tottenham Hotspur debut over the weekend and might be needed again. Presumably, that's something Klinsmann will talk to Spurs about before Yedlin gets on a plane.
The two most notable absences for the USMNT are Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore. Dempsey is injured, while Altidore is suspended for picking up a red card in his last game. The team has no surprises, as all domestic-based players who made the last team were called into this one.
The United States takes on Mexico at 9 p.m. ET at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The game has been sold out for a while, and both teams' fans should be well represented. The game will air in English on FOX Sports 1 and in Spanish on Univision Deportes.
