The central defender was stretched off late in the first half after a hard tackle on Arjen Robben.

Mexico central defender Héctor Moreno has been diagnosed with a broken tibia in his left leg, suffered in El Tri's loss against the Netherlands on Sunday. Mexico head coach Miguel Herrera confirmed the injury after the match.

Moreno was injured late in the first half when he collided with Arjen Robben making a tackle in the 18-yard-box that probably should have been a penalty for the Dutch.

The 26-year-old immediately when down in pain, and spent several minutes on the ground before attempting to walk off the pitch under his own power. Moreno immediately collapsed again after just a couple steps, and was stretchered off.

There's no timetable set for Moreno's recovery yet, but the Espanyol defender had been linked with possible transfers out of Spain. Now he'll likely miss at least a couple months, and most likely the beginning of the 2014/15 season.
