The hosting league gets off to a quick start.
After a relatively quiet half-inning from the National League batters, the American League All-Stars unloaded on starting pitcher Adam Wainwright, led by spark plug Derek Jeter. The Captain led off the bottom of the first with an opposite field double, in a fitting tribute to ... himself. Always the bridesmaid never the bride Mike Trout then followed with a triple off the right field wall that Yasiel Puig couldn't corral.
Puig was almost able to real it in but #shadows no doubt caused some issues for him. The triple scored Jeter for the first run of the game.
