The Broncos offense kept rolling along with 35 points on Thursday night. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Denver Broncos improved to 6-1 with a 35-21 win over the San Diego Chargers on Thursday night. Peyton Manning and the Broncos offense couldn't be stopped once again, putting up over 30 points for the fourth consecutive game. Let's take a look at how the fantasy numbers turned out from the Broncos stars in Week 8.
Peyton Manning: He completed 25-of-35 passes for 286 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday night. It was his fourth straight game with three-plus touchdowns. Manning picked Emmanuel Sanders as his favorite target of the night, throwing all three scores his way. Even with his outstanding showing in 2014, Manning is actually behind his pace from last season. He's still the top quarterback to own.
Ronnie Hillman: The overall body of work from Week 8 was impressive from Hillman, but owners would've liked to see him score at least once. Hillman stepped out of bounds at the 3-yard line at one point, and he had another touchdown called back due to holding. Juwan Thompson vultured two touchdowns against the Chargers, but Hillman is cleary the featured back. He should keep control of the No. 1 spot even with Montee Ball back in a few weeks.
Demaryius Thomas: With eight receptions for 105 yards, Thomas actually experienced somewhat of a down night after scoring five touchdowns over the past three weeks. However, it was his fourth straight game with 100-plus yards. Thomas nearly scored on a couple occasions, but was stopped just yards short. He'll be a matchup-proof WR1 going forward.
Emmanuel Sanders: This was the game owners who drafted Sanders in Round 4 of fantasy drafts were hoping for. Sanders scored his first touchdown as a Bronco last week, and he followed that performance up with nine receptions for 120 yards and three touchdowns. With 47 receptions this season, Sanders is WR2 pushing for WR1 value if he continues to score.
Wes Welker: Two catches for five yards. That's not an appealing stat line for owners to see. Welker only saw two targets on the night. He's overshadowed by the rest of the weapons surrounding Manning.
Julius Thomas: It was another disappointing game for the star tight end, Thomas caught two passes for 23 yards. He was targeted six times, third-most on the team. Manning didn't look for Thomas at the goal line at all, which was discouraging for his value going forward. However, now is a good time to buy low on Thomas. He'll surely bounce back. He's a high-end TE1 every week.
