Washington's quarterback is struggling has been struggling with his mechanics throughout the entire preseason. We break down the fantasy implications.
Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III has struggled this preseason and the fundamentals of his mechanics in throwing the football have taken a step back, according to Ron Jaworski. Griffin's starting job with the team is not in any jeopardy right now.
Fantasy Impact: If all else were equal, coach Jay Gruden might be inclined to start Kirk Cousins given that he favors a traditional pocket passer over a scrambler like Griffin. Luckily for RG3, he's got way more talent and upside than Cousins, so at this point there's no doubt he'll retain his starting job.
That said, if it just so happens that RG3 struggles out of the gate and Washington loses a few games early, the talk of a quarterback controversy in the nation's capital will undoubtedly grow louder.
Despite the slight potential of things going from bad to worse for RG3, fantasy owners would be advised to still maintain high hopes for a solid season from RG3 at this point. That's especially true given he's got plenty of weapons on the ground and through the air to help him succeed this season.
