Helder Postiga has injured his hamstring, and Portugal are now down two strikers. Hugo Almeida, their huge target forward, picked up an injury in their first game and was substituted out, and now Postiga has picked up an injury as well. Eder -- their last center forward -- is now in against the United States.

Eder was the man who replaced Almeida against Germany, and most assumed he'd get the nod up top in this game if Almeida was unable to play. Postiga is more experienced and is a good goal-poacher, but Eder's a more balanced player and a bit more mobile. He's in now, and Portugal will be in serious trouble if he picks up a knock as well.

In his 10 caps, Eder is yet to score, so that's good news for the United States. He's been very good for Braga in Portugal over the last two seasons, but he's yet to translate that to his national team games.
