The Lakers and Warriors are discussing a Klay Thompson trade to bolster Golden State's trade assets for a Kevin Love trade.
The Los Angeles Lakers are in discussions with the Golden State Warriors to attain Klay Thompson for the No. 7 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, according to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times. That deal would be a part of a larger, three-way trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves that sends Kevin Love to Golden State.
The Lakers are interested in acquiring Thompson, according to Bresnahan, but the deal has been put on standby because the Warriors' organization is still deciding whether or not it will keep Thompson in pursuit of Love.
Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists while netting nearly three long range bombs a game. He is also a very good, and versatile, perimeter defender.
Bresnahan reports that the Lakers are still trying to decide what to do with the pick, should they choose to keep it. They have reportedly narrowed their choices down to Aaron Gordon, Julius Randle, Noah Vonleh, Dante Exum, Marcus Smart and Elfrid Payton.
