The Cardinals will start Stanton for the third consecutive game after Palmer suffered a setback with his injured shoulder.

Drew Stanton will be the starting quarterback in place of Carson Palmer for the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday against the Denver Broncos, per the team's official Twitter. Palmer was injured in the Cardinals' season-opening win over the San Diego Chargers and has not played since. Stanton has gone 2-0 in his absence, beating the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

Palmer is dealing with a nerve issue in his shoulder, something that has caused serious concern for Palmer's career moving forward. Luckily, the injury has been deemed non-career threatening after Palmer visited a spine specialist this week. The injury is not believed to require surgery either as nothing is structurally wrong, and Palmer should be able to come back this season.

Stanton has been taking care of business with Palmer on the sideline, guiding Arizona 24 points per game in his two starts. The offense only ranks 17th and 21st in passing and rushing yards per game respectively, with Stanton completing just 51.6 percent of his passes. However, Stanton has played turnover-free football and allowed his top-ranked defense to carry the load.
