St. Louis owes their 4-3 overtime win against Dallas all to the Russian sniper.
When it came to stopping Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko, the Dallas Stars just couldn't do it.
The budding Russian star scored his hat-trick goal in overtime and assisted on Jori Lehtera's second period goal to give the Blues a 4-3 win on the road. It was Tarasenko's first hat trick in the NHL.
With Tyler Seguin in the box on a high-sticking call, Tarasenko took a cross-ice pass from Kevin Shattenkirk and blasted a one-timer past Kari Lehtonen for the win.
I mean, this shot was absolutely ripped.
Tarasenko's three goals helped pad his total for the season to four. He almost didn't get the opportunity to do it, however, as Seguin and Jamie Benn nearly ended it in regulation much in part to the strength of Benn going to the net.
Give it up to Blues goalie Brian Elliott for coming up huge to keep his team in the game.
This was the second time the Stars have lost at home in overtime by giving up a power play goal. That probably won't make Lindy Ruff feel too great.
