Jakub Voracek will try to step up in his captain's absence.

The Philadelphia Flyers might be without their star captain on Wednesday, but that doesn't mean they won't bring firepower to compete with the New York Rangers' stars.

With captain Claude Giroux out with a lower-body injury, the Flyers will look to winger Jakub Voracek to carry the offense against the New York Rangers. It's almost fitting that Voracek will lead the way, considering he and Rangers winger Rick Nash are currently competing for the top spot among NHL points leaders.

Philadelphia is 7-7-2 on the season, including two straight losses, and is 2-5-0 on the road. The Rangers are 7-7-4 on the year, including 5-4-3 at Madison Square Garden.

Even with Nash's production, the Rangers have been woefully inconsistent over a 2-3-4 stretch. Whether the Flyers can take advantage likely depends on Voracek's role as well as how Steve Mason stacks up in net opposite Henrik Lundqvist.
