These aren't the Canucks that Detroit is used to beating.

The Monday after Thanksgiving is always one of the toughest days of the year. The NHL must know fans need some extra time to prepare to go back to work, because only one game is scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The Detroit Red Wings host the Vancouver Canucks at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, a team they've owned in recent years. Detroit swept the season series last season and is 4-0-1 over the last few years against Canada's westernmost NHL team.

But this isn't the same inconsistent Canucks team we've come to know in recent seasons. Under Willie Desjardins' guidance this season, the Canucks are sitting pretty among the Western Conference's leaders and look like the dangerous squad that ran roughshod over the NHL in the last decade.

The Red Wings aren't exactly pushovers right now either. Detroit's offense has begun to click at a 3.5 goals per game pace as their power play has ignited. This one might come down to whether Jimmy Howard or Ryan Miller blinks first.
