That Ludogorets result was really bad.

Hey the lineups are out for Liverpool's game against Stoke City and OH BOY.

We have now reached the desperation phase of Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool tenure. After admitting that he's facing the sack and that his team has lost confidence, Rodgers has opted to drop Steven Gerrard to the bench. Lucas Leiva and Joe Allen will combine to do his work in the midfield, while presumably doing less falling down while trying to defend, as well as less playing of 60-yard passes.

Gerrard isn't exactly suited to the defensive midfield role he's been playing, so this is a long time coming. But Gerrard has long been seen as undroppable by the Liverpool faithful, and continues to get nominated for player of the year awards despite playing well below his former level, simply because he's Steven Gerrard and the one trick he still has in his bag is really, really fun.

If Liverpool manage to save Rodgers' job by running riot over Stoke with Gerrard riding pine, things are going to get really fun on Merseyside.
