The Jets are going back to Geno Smith for Week 13. We break down the fantasy implications.
The New York Jets have confirmed that quarterback Geno Smith will get the start once again in the team's Week 13 game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
New York is turning back to Smith after a string of poor performances from Michael Vick. Smith replaced Vick midway through their Week 12 loss to the Buffalo Bills, completing 10 of his 12 passes for just 89 yards. He started the first eight games of the season before being yanked for Vick. In nine games, Smith has thrown for just seven touchdowns and racked up 10 interceptions.
Fantasy impact: It wouldn't be the Jets without behind-the-scenes drama, and this decision did not disappoint. The New York Daily News reports that head coach Rex Ryan wanted to keep starting Vick, while general manager John Idzik wants to get another look at Smith. Ryan is clearly on his last legs in New York and seems to have lost all pull in personnel decisions. This is a fantasy situation to avoid entirely -- Smith won't be an option even in two-quarterback leagues.
