The Texans are turning back to Ryan Fitzpatrick after losing Ryan Mallett for the year. We break down the fantasy implications.
The Houston Texans have confirmed that quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will be the starter in Sunday's Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans.
Fitzpatrick wins the job back after Ryan Mallett was lost for the season with a torn pectoral. He started the first nine games of the season, throwing for 1,960 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 61.8 percent of his passes. There were some rumblings that the Texans might turn to fourth-round rookie Tom Savage, but they're sticking with the veteran while clinging to their slim playoff hopes. The team signed Thad Lewis as the No. 3 quarterback on the active roster.
Fantasy impact: Fitzpatrick was semi-competent as the starter, but his obvious limitations held back the passing offense. Look for Arian Foster to resume his role as the heavy workhorse when he returns from a groin injury. Fitzpatrick did favor DeAndre Hopkins, but both he and Andre Johnson remain boom-or-bust WR3 plays. Fitzpatrick is only a desperation play in two-quarterback leagues.
