Ryan Mathews is still not ready to return to action for the San Diego Chargers. We break down the fantasy implications.

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews is out for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. Mathews is dealing with an MCL sprain that has kept him out since a Week 2 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. As such, Mathews has just 23 carries for 71 yards and a touchdown on the season.

The good news is that Mathews returned for a limited practice session on Friday. It was obvious to everyone involved that Mathews wouldn't be playing in Sunday's game, but his return to practice is definitely a solid next step. The Chargers field the league's No. 8 passing offense, but just the No. 30 rush offense. They average just 85.8 rushing yards per game.

Fantasy Impact: Obviously, Mathews is not going to play in this game, so fantasy owners should look elsewhere. Hopefully they were quick to grab Branden Oliver, as he is going to remain the primary ball-carrier until Mathews returns. That said, fantasy owners should be looking forward to a potential Week 11 return for Mathews. San Diego has a bye in Week 10.
