The Arizona Coyotes have added some size to their ranks, selecting forward prospect Brendan Perlini with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.

Listed at 6'2, 205 pounds, Perlini, 18, is described as a dynamic scorer with size. Selected with the No. 16 overall selection by the Barrie Colts in the 2012 Ontario Hockey League draft, Perlini spent 32 games with Barrie before joining the Niagra IceDogs. After registering only two points with Barrie, Perlini upped his production in Niagra, having added 10 points before the conclusion of the 2012-13 season.

The young forward would continue his trend upwards with 71 points this past season (34 goals and 31 assists), finishing second on the team in scoring. It's this continued improvement that has impressed the scouts and led to Perlini's ranking as the No. 9 forward prospect by the ISS:

Perlini is one of this year's high risers amongst this year's draft prospects. He has come into his own and was able to put things together for a very productive season. He has great size to go along with his pro level skating ability. A smart and skilled player who is not afraid to be aggressive in the right situations to make a play. He makes things happen on the ice and is always an offensive threat. The Niagara left winger has good offensive instincts but he loves to score goals as well. He has a pro release that he gets off with quickness and leverage. His consistency along with time to fill out into his lengthy body, are areas that will need attention but Perlini has NHL forward written all over him.

Perlini represented Canada at the U18 World Junior Championship, registering four points (three goals and an assist) in seven games.
